DALI (May,2001)

It took nearly two hours arriving in Kunming by plane from Guangzhou. Then I went to the coach station to go to Dali. It took at least 5 hours from Kumming to Dali. It is easy to find a good and reasonable price hotel to live in Dali.

You can go around in the streets in Dali at night after your route at day. I suggest you buy the traditional Chinese clothes there because it is not very expensive and also you can get it next day.

It will be nice to go to Er Sea by a carriage. In fact Er Sea is a pretty large lake. It will spend you half a day to sail in Er Sea. In an island we tried the famous Bai Zu (one kind of minorities) "Three Tea". The first tea is bitter, it means life starts
bitter because you have to work hard when you're young. The second tea is sweet and it means you already have a good life after your efforts. The last tea is ginger tea, it means when you're old, you'll recall the past.

After the Er Sea trip, you can try to go to Cang Mountain by cable car or horse. I suggest go there by horse because it will be much exciting. Anyway, the price between cable car and horse is similar.

LIJIANG (May,2001)

Next day in early morning, we went to Lijiang. It spent at least 3 hours. After we arrived in Lijiang, we took a taxi to the ancient Lijiang city because there are many inns there. Living in the ancient Lijiang city is the best because you can really experience the life with local people.

There are many inns in ancient Lijiang city but unfortunately most of them were already full due to the long vacation. Actually we had no map and didn't know where to go. We just went forward and after a while we suprised to see there is a youth hotel. Luckily there was still not full. Unluckily we had to live in a 12-people's room who come from anywhere. There are only four bathrooms downstairs and we lived in second floor. Remember not to take a bath except in the evening because it seems there is no hot water in day time:)

After we found somewhere to live, we walked around in ancient Lijiang city and went to Dong Ba Culture Museum by taxi. Usually it will only cost you 10 yuan go anywhere in Lijiang city by taxi.

In the taxi I know a very nice driver who drove us the to go to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Tiger Jump Gorge the next two days. His information as follows:

Name: Gao Lin
Mobile: 13988859069     Pager: 127-8060609

I suggest you rent a car to travel in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain because you can do whatever you like and stay anywhere as long as you like.

I always meet good people in my trip. Thanks Zhang Meng and your friend, we had a good time together in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is very amazing that we met so many times during the trip.

It is the best to go to Dragon Snow Mountain by the 110-yuan cable car because you can see the most excellent view. I heard that the ticket will be 300-400 yuan later. However, it spent us at least 6 hours to wait for the cable car because there were many people.

I was afraid that I would have trouble in the plateau because this mountain is very tall. People all said it is easy you will feel sick in the high plateau. Then we brought an oxygen bag to the mountain. Fortunately I was as fine as usual and needn't to use the oxygen bag at all. I felt very happy in this mountain.

After that, we went to Mao Niu Ping. I also rode a horse to the top of it and return by a horse. That is much interesting but also dangerous. Sometimes my life just depended on the horse and it just walked by the cliff.

When we went back, on the way I saw a very beautiful field that full of purple flowers. The driver told me they are for the cows. I liked there and the driver went to talk to the minority family and asked whether we could go to the field. This family is nice and allowed us to enter and take photos.

Later we arrived to Bai Sha Wall Painting but it's not very interesting for me. It's dark and some painting on the wall had faded away. In fact the point is I have no taste:)

People said it is good to hear the Naxi music in the ancient Lijiang city. Unfortunately we couldn't buy the tickets because they were already sold out. If one day you have a chance to hear it, please tell me how it will be:)

We went to Tiger Jump Gorge next day. There were several adventurers died here when they wanted to conquer this river. It is just bad that people just died like this.

KUNMING (May,2001)

We left next day in early morning. It is bad that it took at least 10 hours from Lijiang to Kunming by coach. I felt a little bad in the coach because I ate something I disliked as breakfast plus a sad movie in the coach. I was a little sick after that, but still continued my trip.

The local people are very nice and told us where to taste the best dishes in Kunming. Then we went to the best restaurant called Qiao Xiang Yuan to have "Over Bridge Noodles". If you taste over 10 yuan "Over Bridge Noodles", meanwhile you can go to see the minority's dancing show.

The next day we went to Stone Forest. There is a narrow in the stones, the guide said if you can pass it, you would have long life. It's not difficult for me:) Another interesting stones are very small and narrow and it needs "skill" to pass it. If you can pass it, you are a perfect person. I saw a man that was blocked in it and it made me laugh:D I also wondered whether myself could pass it. Finally it came out that I am a perfect person:D

The last day we went to Longmen in Kuming. I saw there were many signatures in the rocks, then I also wrote down mine:D If you go there, try to find it:)

In a shop someone was drawing the pictures by the name. I used my name
to draw a picture and the painter spoke a lot of good words for me. You can also try it.

There are still some places in Yunnan that I haven't been to. I save them later because I will be back:)
